The Cottage

The cottage is a cosy, two bedroom house built in the traditional style for the area although it's only 40 years old, combining the best of the local style with modern standards for construction and heating etc.

Photo gallery of the holiday cottage in France, VendeeIn brief:

  • Kitchen with electric oven, microwave, fridge, lots of pots & pans
  • Eating area in kitchen
  • Lounge and adjoining dining room
  • Two bedrooms (one double, one twin)
  • Bathroom
  • Separate toilet

There is a kitchen with its own eating area, electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave, fridge and stacks of pots and pans. The lounge joins the dining room and on the same floor are two bedrooms, a bathroom and separate toilet.

From the photos in the gallery, the house looks like a bungalow but in fact it's two-storey; the ground floor, or 'sous sol', is built into the hill and is where all the utility items such as washing machine, garden tools, lawn mower, strimmer etc live - so please be careful, this is a real, lived in home and we don't want any accidents!

The house stands in its own grounds with garden and lawns all around. Gates, front and back make it secure and private and parking is easy - for probably 6 cars!

From the garden at the back, you can see across the small valley to the Village of Champ St Père where the Church and roof tops peep from above the trees. It's a short bike ride, walk or drive to the village where all the food and wine shops you could possible need will be found.

From the front garden you will see an old 'chapelle' - this belongs to the property and actually was the chapelle for the hamlet - hundreds of years old, it's not used now except by the swallows who nest there every year.

Opposite the house, to the front, you will see some tumbled down stone buildings, in front of which - nearly in working order - is an old bread oven. This belongs to the small commune and it has been known to be pressed into use to make party pizzas!
